Piaget Celebrates The Third Annual Piaget Hamptons Cup

WATERMILL, N.Y. – (August 10, 2014) – Piaget returned to the Equuleus Polo Club for the third consecutive year as the presenting sponsor of the Piaget Hamptons Cup, held in Watermill, NY.  The House partnered with polo superstar Nacho Figueras and polo enthusiasts, Joe and Diana DiMenna, for an exhibition match benefiting Robin Hood, one of New York City’s most respected charitable organizations. More popular than ever, the family affair brought out Hamptons’ best to celebrate and support the foundation, including celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and husband Rodger Berman, fashion designer Donna Karan and her daughter Gabby Karan De Felice along with her husband Gianpaolo De Felice, Figueras’ wife Delfina Blaquier, Jean Shafiroff and Lise and Michael Evans.

The event kicked off with a late afternoon polo match between Team Credit Suisse, featuring Stefano Natella, Alainn Bailey, Magoo Laprida, Francisco Ayala and Tommy Franco, and Team St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, featuring captain Joe DiMenna, Nacho Figueras, Mariano Gonzalez and Martin Pepa.  The St. Regis team and man of the hour, Nacho Figueras, kept a continuous lead throughout the match ultimately winning the Piaget Hamptons Cup title 9 to 6.

President of Piaget North America, Larry Boland, presented the winning team with the Piaget perpetual trophy. The Most Valuable Player award went to Stefano Natella who scored three goals in the first half. Best Playing Pony award went to Magoo Laprida’s horse, Fatiga. However, the ultimate winner of the day was Robin Hood with over $550,000 raised for the foundation – the largest amount of funds contributed to this event. Following the match, guests and their families gathered for a traditional Argentine “asado” just as the sun began to set.

Throughout the afternoon, guests were invited to try on the latest timepieces from the Piaget Polo FortyFive collection and jewelry from the Piaget Rose collection in the brand’s dedicated lounge. Guests also admired and took photos with the life-sized polished aluminum polo pony and rider filled with hundreds of fragrant Yves Piaget Roses.

Piaget has a long history with the sport of kings, dating back to the 1970s. The brand recently hosted the World Snow Polo Championships in Aspen and was the presenting sponsor and official timekeeper of the Piaget Gold Cup tournament in Palm Beach for the seventh consecutive year. Internationally, the brand was recently the official timepiece partner of the Audi International for the Coronation Cup in Windsor, England.
